Pool Cleaning Tips

Cleaning your pool is something that must be done regularly. If you neglect to clean your pool then the water may become contaminated with bacteria that it is unfit to swim in. Also, over time it may seem as if you have a lagoon in your backyard instead of a pool.

The first tip to cleaning your pool is to do it on a day that most everyone in your family is out of the house, that way they will not feel the need to take a swim. You will want the water to be completely clear of any debris before you add chemicals so take your time and utilize a net to grab this debris that has found its way to your pool. The best tool to use for this part of the cleaning process is one with a long handle that is designed specifically for this purpose. This way you minimize the risk of falling into the pool while trying to clean it, but you still get the job done. You will want to grab as much as you can from the top, then take that same net to stir up the waters. This way you are able to get some of the debris that has floated to the bottom and may be the reason that your filter sometimes gets stopped up.

Once you have finished removing the debris that you can see, you need to brush the walls and ground of the pool with a long handled brush. This is one of those things that most people forget to do, as they believe that the chemicals that they add to the pool will take care of this. However, that debris that gets into the pool and is allowed to sit there for a long period of time basically turns to mush, and this is what makes the floors and walls of the pool slimy. Which is a safety hazard, as no one wants a guest or a family member to fall while they are in the pool due to the slim that they step on. Using this brush, scrub the walls and the floor to make this slim float into the water. You can then use a net to see if you can get any of it out, or you can let the pool filter does its job and remove it for you.

Be sure that you add whatever chemicals to your pool that the manufacturer calls for. However, if you are a bit hesitant to use these foreign chemicals, you can find other substances that are meant to clean the pools that are more environmentally friendly. You also need to take the time to clean the pool filter since it is going to have various debris that has been sucked up in it. You need to clean it in order to make sure that it still suctions out the debris that is left int eh pool that you could not manually get out.
